3.2 Content Patch Summary


So far in Patch 3.2 we are seeing many items.  Changes to Argent Tournament, New Raid instance, changes in emblems, Paladin and Shaman Changes.  Mounts are changing yet again.  Druids finally getting new forms.  Death Knights continue their mutation.  New battleground opening up, leveling up via pvp.  Definitely lots going on with 3.2, its definitely a big one, and with the issues that were present in what seems to be a smaller 3.1 Ulduar patch, we may see this on on the PTR for a very long time.

1.  The Crusader’s Coliseum & Argent Tournament Changes

Argent_QuestHub1Blizzard has stated they will be implementing 5, 10 and 25 man instances/raids.  The 5 man will offer champion seals for each kill, now the 10 man and 25 man will both have 2 versions normal and heroic mode, all on different lockout timers.  No word on if the 5 man will have a heroic mode yet.  So this allows more seasoned teams to go after raid content in heroics and normal version for additional shots at gear.  Now Blizzard has also mentioned that you will only get so many attempts at the heroic  encounters, so maybe a 3 strikes and you are out policy, and if completing these “tribute” runs you could win additional loot. we will have to wait and see more details.  Blizzard has also mentioned new tiers of armor with Alliance and Horde themes as a result of these runs.

Some additional Argent Tournament changes we will be seeing are that Blizzard will be implementing 2 new quest hubs, one that will be overlooking the tournament grounds and another off the north coast of Icecrown.  There will also be new dailies and rewards, and we will see the return of the Black Knight.

2. New Druid Forms

New druid bear and cat models are being implemented in this next content patch, with different models for Taurens and Night Elves.  All off the old models will be put to rest, so take your screenshots of your old fuzzy self before this change comes through.

3. Isle of Conquest

isle2The latest epic battleground will be hosted on an island with multiple different resources to gather.  In the spirit of Alterac Valley it will be a 40 vs. 40 encounter.  The idea is that taking control of key resources on the island will give your side a boost in some way.  One can only hope that the resources offer very strategic counter balances to each other so the battleground doesn’t turn into a zerg fest as Alterac Valley has become.

4.  Mount Changes

Mount costs are going down, as well as the level to learn the different riding skills, with the initial land mount riding skill being learned at level 20, and the mount costing 1 gold, the epic land mount riding skill can be trained at level 40, and the mount will only cost 10 gold.  Upon reaching Outlands at level 60 (150% flying speed), you can train for your first flying mount skill, where faction discounts will be applied for Honor Hold (Alliance) and Thrallmar (Horde).  Your epic flying mount skill (280% flying speed) still will be trained at level 70, but once more faction discounts will apply.

What about movement speed for classes with built in mounts?  Glad you asked.  Druid travel form can be trained at level 16, flight form at level 60 (150% flying speed), and swift flight form at level 70.  Hunter’s aspect of the Cheetah and Shaman Ghost Wolf will now require level 16.  Paladin Warhorse and Warlock Felsteed will both require level 20, and the Paladin Charger and Warlock Dreadsteed can be acquired at level 40.

5.  Epic Gems and Profession Changes

3.2 will bring about epic quality gems.  This will also cause Blizzard to upgrade the perks each profession is getting.

Design recipes for epic gems will be available to be purchased with Dalaran Jewelcrafter tokens.  You will be able to find uncut epic gems from a variety of sources including: Prospecting Titanium Ore, Alchemy Transmutations, Purchased with Honor, Purchased with Emblems of Heroism.  Yes finally a use for all those extra Emblems of Heroism you have sitting around.

Now due to epic gems coming out here are some of the proposed changes to other professions:

Alchemy is having the mixology benefits from from Northrend elixirs and flasks have been increased, Added a new pattern for Flask of the North, usable by players with a high alchemy skill. The recipe is purchased from the honor potion vendor. The Flask of the North increases your spell power, attack power, or Strength for 1 hour, and is usable in arenas. It is not consumed when used.  Also Endless Healing Potion and Endless Mana Potion no longer usable in arenas. Amount of health and mana has been increased, and the cooldown reduced. They are still usable everywhere else.

Herbalism is getting a boost in healing to Lifeblood (Rank 6),  will now scale slightly with max health, and will no longer be affected by global cooldown.

Blacksmithing will not have any changes.

Enchanting will have the values on Northrend ring enchants increased.

Engineering will see increased benefits from Hyperspeed Accelerators, Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket, and Reticulated Armor Webbing glove modifications.

Inscription will see the master’s inscriptions increased.

Jewelcrafting will have the Dragon’s Eye gems stat bonuses increased.

Leatherworking will have Fur Lining values increased.

Mining will have Toughness (Rank 6) provide more Stamina.

Skinning’s Master of Anatomy (Rank 6) will provide more critical strike rating.

Tailoring is having its Embroideries improved

6. New Heirlooms and Upgraded Squire

New heirloom items will be available including a chest item that will provide a +10% experience bonus, and will stack with the shoulders.

The Squire you achieved in the Argent Tournament will be upgraded via 150 champion seals to be summoned once every 8 hours for 3 minutes to provide one of 3 services: bank, mail or vendor access.

7. PVP Changes

The biggest change we have seen so far is that there will be an option to now earn experience through participation in battlegrounds.  Experience will be earned based on honor and not kills, so capturing a node in AB that awards 100 honor and killing someone for 4 honor, well the capturing of the node will be worth more.  Fear not twinks, as you will be able to turn this option off to stay in the current bracket of play.

Strand of the Ancients will now implement a “coin toss” to determine who is on offense first.

8. Paladin Changes

Plenty of Paladin changes are forthcoming and for all talent trees.

For protection it appears changes to Blessing of Sanctuary and Argent Defender will be in the works.  Holy Paladins will see their Flash of Light place a HoT (heal over time) on their target that has Sacred Shield.  Beacon of Light is also receiving an upgrade to include overhealing now.  It does appear we will be seeing   Retribution Pallies will be able to use Exorcism on players once again in pvp, but only while standing still.  Art of War will also add Exorcism to the existing Flash of Light instant cast mechanic.  Crusader Strike’s damage is being lowered but its cooldown is as well, so you find yourself pushing it more.  Seal of Blood and Martyr are being removed, and Vindication is being redesigned to provide an attack power buff.

9. Shaman Changes

Shamans will be getting a new “Totem Bar”.  The bar will let you add the totems you want, and will include a spell that will let you drop all 4 totems at one time.  Also there are a ton of changes to how Resto Shaman operate that will be coming here is some of the specifics.

10.  Death Knight Changes

Based on the first iteration of the 3.2 PTR patch notes, it looks like Death Knights will also be getting an overhaul, mostly in the Frost and Unholy trees.  More utility for dual wield builds, some changes to mechanics for Frost Strike and Scourge Strike, and many changes to how tanking Death Knights live and breathe.

12.  Emblem System Changes

This is probably one of the biggest announcements so far on the patch notes.  Any dungeon or raid that previously dropped Emblems of Heroism or Emblems of Valor (i.e. Naxx, Heroic Halls of Stone, etc.) will now drop Emblems of Conquest instead.

Emblems of Triumph are the new badges that will be dropping in the Argent Coliseum instances.

Heroic dungeon daily quest will now reward 2 Emblems of Triumph and the normal daily dunegon quest will reward 1 Emblem of Triumph.
